Basic Nurse Assistant Training Program (BNATP)
The Basic Nurse Assistant Training Program (BNATP) prepares the student to assist the licensed professional nurse and licensed practical nurse as an integral member of the health care team in a variety of health care settings. Upon successful completion of the program the individual is eligible to take the State of Illinois Nursing Assistant Competency Examination.

The course instruction includes basic nursing skills through lecture, campus laboratory and supervised clinical experiences at a long-term health care facility. A passing grade requires the student to have achieved an average score of 80% on written examinations and to meet all laboratory and clinical requirements with a passing grade of “C” or better. Each individual who successfully passes the certification exam will then be placed on the State Registry for Health Care Workers. The BNATP will consist of 120 hours of 5 weeks training. 1. A student must be 18 years old
2. A student must be either a high school graduate or its equivalent (GED).
3. Each Student must submit proof of CPR Certification. Certification may be done on campus
if needed.
4. Each student must submit TB test results.
5. A student must evidence good moral character as determined from a personal interview by
a school official.
6. Each student must submit to a criminal background check
7. Each student must submit health history and immunization documents.
8. Each student must complete a Program Application
9. Each student must attend a mandatory orientation.

The total cost for the program is $950.00 and include: textbook and workbook, stethoscope and BP cuff. Students should review the tuition information section of Amazing Care Systems Inc. for payment options
B. The cost for fingerprinting is $29.50 each. The methods of payment are Visa (Debit/Credit), Check, or Money Orders. L-1 does not bill students and they will not accept CASH at any site. You must bring one of the aforementioned forms of payment with you at the time you are fingerprinted.
Upon completion and verification of the fingerprint background check, you will be approved to register for the class.

Upon successful completion of this course, students are eligible to take a certification exam.

IDPH’s rules titled Health Care Worker Background Check Code (77 Ill. Adm. Code 955) states that certified nurse assistant’s cannot work for a hospital, nursing home, or home health agency if they have certain criminal convictions. The list of disqualifying convictions that will keep students from working as a nurse’s aide may be found on the Illinois Department of Public Health Nurse Aide Registry website.
